Our foundation supports wounded soldiers both physically and mentally. We provide assistance from the moment they arrive at the hospital, offering support, guidance, and appreciation for their sacrifice. Our comprehensive rehabilitation plan includes employment and citizenship orientation, in collaboration with military and medical officials.
We believe that every wounded individual deserves personalised care and attention. That’s why we provide a tailored recovery package for wounded individuals during their recovery period. Accommodation in purpose-renovated apartments is offered for those who live far from the hospital. Educational courses of their choosing are also provided, enabling them to develop personally. We offer personalised emotional support, mental health care, and work closely with families and military authorities to ensure comprehensive support.
We offer therapeutic retreats led by experts in battle-trauma. Our goal is to help individuals process their battlefield experiences and enable them to lead a normal life as quickly as possible. These retreats allow us to identify individuals in need of follow-up care.
The Recovery Package for wounded soldiers includes thoughtful items aimed at supporting the soldier through the challenging and unfamiliar territory that comes with sustaining an injury in combat. Soldiers can find themselves in recovery for long periods of time and in many cases, are bedridden. In order to facilitate smoother recovery, and allow them a source of communication, entertainment, and education, the Egoz soldiers are given an iPad. In addition, they are also provided with high-quality, online English courses. These courses are extremely impactful as they provide an interactive learning environment, new skills, a new perspective, and the insurance of a future beyond the army.
When wounded soldiers transition from hospital care to daily rehabilitation sessions, the challenge of commuting to treatment centres every day arises, especially for those residing far away. Addressing this need, we established rehabilitation apartments situated in the heart of Tel Aviv, in proximity to both treatment facilities and the hospital.
These apartments offer a no cost residence, with round-the-clock care from our dedicated team, tailored to their individual specific requirements. The companionship of fellow residents at the complex share similar wartime experiences fosters a supportive environment that accelerates the rehabilitation journey and cultivates a sense of belonging akin to a family unit.
Engaging in water-based activities proves essential for veterans managing PTSD, delivering both physical and mental health advantages within a serene, therapeutic setting that encourages a sense of community. Through monthly sailing expeditions led by seasoned instructors and rowing sessions, veterans cultivate new skills, bolster their confidence, and find solace in a tranquil setting. Weekly surfing workshops led by surfing instructors and PTSD specialists not only enhance physical fitness and mental well-being but also reinforce camaraderie among participants through mentorship and shared experiences. With over 60 veterans actively participating and a growing demand for additional groups, these workshops continue to make a meaningful impact on the veteran community.
Emotional support dogs play a vital role in assisting veterans with post-combat emotional challenges through a specialised adoption initiative encompassing professional training and one year of continued support. Equine therapy combines therapeutic horseback riding with group sessions that help veterans regain a sense of equilibrium, improve emotional management, and foster a supportive environment. Through group rehabilitation and reintegration programs centred on emotional regulation, resilience, and transitioning back into daily life and work via organic farming and grounding agricultural tasks, veterans receive holistic support to aid in their recovery journey.
